Last mutation of a ten-year collaboration between Clément Cosset and Tom Nominé, Véronique Samsung was born in 2019 in Nantes (France) to channel their electronic experiments in the margin of the previous project Cocktail Bandit.
New city, new instruments, new influences, the project is clearly defined: with only two suitcases full of analogue machines and a guitar, without turntables or computer, the duo intends to bring back live shows in the club.
Improvisation is the key word: starting from a canvas of patterns, the set flows continuously, reacting to the audience. Randomness is found in the stage design too. Visual effects are cast onto a luminous veil hanging over the band, generated and synced to the music.
This record, recorded and mixed at Trempo (Nantes, France) with the participation of Simo Cell, expresses the desire to compose in a different way, with new methods and in a limited time, to give the tracks narrative and musical momentum.
It’s a departure towards other genres, with hints of italo disco, breakbeat, acid, balearic, while bringing an eerie and outdated feeling through the chosen sounds from vintage synthesizers and drum machines (Yamaha DX7, Korg M1, Roland TR-626...) The analogue drums and sampled rhythms stacked together transform the classic "four-to-the-floor" into irregular and dense drum patterns.
The artwork created by Perinane is a tribute to the vintage Bruton Music records.
It represents a geographical map, but distortions and false colours prevent a full understanding, evoking the different meanings that a territory can have. The artwork and the song titles evoke the desertification of the countryside, the ongoing social and climatic changes.
Early Supports by: Lion's Drums, Triple Point, Henry Greenleaf, Iron Curtis, Ido Plumes, JP Enfant, De Grandi, Ciel, JASSS, Tzusing.

Klezmer Band on a trip in Orient Express!
Great track with various sonic layers. I love the odd jazz of saxophones and flutes? mixed with xylophone? and synth patches. Opening part sounds like jewish band, then raga like sounds take you to some oriental country. And finally those nice 303 squeaks...
Whole mini-album is very diverse both atmospherically and sonically. Interesting listening. Mr Phlüx
